I finished the first half of my first semester and got to brush up my reporting skills, write two small pieces, took a course in ethics that challenged a lot of my fundamental beliefs. I also got a peek into analyzing large datasets (well, large for now). Today (Wednesday) I started my foundations of computing course. Over the next seven weeks, I will learn (insert whichever verb works here) Python, Pandas, APIs, mapping and more!
And, nope, I didn’t miss inserting the ‘verb’ above. I really don’t know if I’ll use this stuff or do this stuff. In an update to this in December, I will have the right verbs, I promise!
Other cool things
This week I read a bunch of stuff related to consumerism — especially as holidays and major shopping season approaches. Here’s one:

If you’re out of loop and need something to bring yourself up to speed — I found this really helpful: The fate of the planet will be negotiated in Glasgow, Scotland
Along the same lines, I started reading The uninhabitable earth: Life after warming by David Wallace-Wells. I will report back my learnings in the consequent editions!
Unrelated, but if you’re passionately against the monarchy and colonization, here’s some bright news: Barbados Elects Its First Head of State, Replacing Queen Elizabeth!
Also, Meta is now a thing, but more thoughts on that next week!
That’s all! Have a cheery weekend! ☀️☔
Python is fun! Can't wait to see you do things with it — good luck!
